Tasks in BoardCloud
BoardCloud includes a built-in task system that helps board members track responsibilities and follow up on actions arising from meetings.
Tasks are typically assigned by administrators, secretaries, or meeting editors and may relate to meeting discussions, committee responsibilities, or organizational compliance activities. Once assigned, members can view and manage their tasks through the My Tasks dashboard.
The task system ensures that important actions are clearly recorded, assigned to the right people, and tracked until completion.
Viewing Your Tasks
All tasks assigned to you can be accessed through your My Tasks dashboard.
From here you can:
- View tasks assigned to you
- See deadlines and priority levels
- Open tasks to read full details
- Track the progress of tasks you are responsible for
Members will only see tasks that have been assigned to them.
Task Information
Each task contains key information to help you understand what needs to be done.
Typical task details include:
- Task Title – A short description of the action required
- Due Date / Time – When the task should be completed
- Priority Level – Indicates how urgent or important the task is
- Description – Additional context or instructions
- Assigned Members – The members responsible for completing the task
These details help ensure everyone understands their responsibilities and timelines.
Updating a Task
As a member assigned to a task, you can interact with the task in several ways.
You can:
- Add comments to provide updates or ask questions
- Change the task status
- Mark the task as completed once the action has been finished
Comments are saved in the task history so other assigned members or administrators can see progress and updates.
Task Status
Tasks can have different statuses to show their progress.
Common task statuses include:
- Open – The task is active and still needs to be completed
- Completed – The task has been finished
- Cancelled – The task is no longer required
Updating the task status helps the board track progress and maintain accountability for actions arising from meetings.
Tasks Linked to Meetings
Many tasks are created directly from meeting agenda items. This allows boards to turn discussions into clear action items.
When a task is linked to a meeting, it may appear alongside the relevant agenda item so members can easily understand the context of the action.
Stand-Alone Tasks
Not all tasks come from meetings. Some tasks may be created as stand-alone tasks for general responsibilities across the organization.
These tasks appear in your My Tasks dashboard and help you keep track of ongoing work outside of meetings.
Tip: Keep your task statuses up to date and add comments when progress is made. This helps administrators and other board members track actions and ensures accountability across the board.
